POST-AI REQUIEM FOR A PRIEST song, 2’01’’, 2020 *aired on Radio Mpoukouras show, 28/12/2020, 22.00 – 24.00 p.m. in the framework of Pai O Palios O Chronos 2020 Remix (Various Artists) / online art event @ Radio Mpoukouras and fb Radio Mpoukouras Sunday 27th December 2020

Post-AI Requiem for a Priest is a sing-along tune inspired by newsfeed reporting the death of Greek priests by coronavirus. Phrases from these articles were used to compose lyrics that were translated in English by Google Translator. A song-producing AI was fed with the lyrics. Parameters that define the song’s style, the rhythm, and voice were chosen. The result was displeasing, lacking the desired sentimental quality. Kostis Stafylakis adopted the riff produced by the Artificial Intelligence to compose and record his version of a post-AI Requiem.

One more death from coronavirus

It became known he was dealing with underlying diseases

He officiated in a parish of the Holy Diocese

He did not know he’d contracted the coronavirus

He attended a service in a close family circle

He showed symptoms, he sent parental wishes

He was born in Kopanos, at Imathia

He was ordained a deacon

He received the honors of the treasurer and the elder

His health condition deteriorated

The priest’s contacts were not tracked

He caught it in a meeting with a monk of Mount Athos

He was born, he was born in Volos

And he was, he was married

Written and performed by Kostis Stafylakis Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Dope of Sound Studio 2020
